Open Positions: 

Director of Food Safety

As a Food Safety Director, you have an important role in ensuring that everything about our frozen treats and our manufacturing process meet quality standards and are safe for our consumers to enjoy. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Food Safety programs in accordance with FSMA requirements, as well as, supervising and leading the tribe members responsible for maintaining quality standards.

Your expertise in analyzing food processing facilities and procedures will be essential in promoting our mission – making people smile with really cool treats. Your ability to share your expertise and inspire our tribe will be vital as we continuously develop our food safety culture.

You will be a business partner who serves, inspires, coaches, mentors, and provides feedback. You must demonstrate initiative, personal accountability, integrity, and creditability. Your actions and decisions will be guided by our Zieggy Essentials, nurturing our culture of values and integrity.

The Director of Food Safety is responsible for: 

  • Research, develop and implement strategies and programs to meet & exceed evolving standards and mitigate and eliminate food safety risks.
  • Provide technical expertise and support in addressing food safety issues, search for and share best practices and ensure compliance for our customer and all regulatory agencies.
  • Raise the profile of food safety and ensure food safety is imbedded in our culture.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate Food Safety efforts in 3 facilities in support of our company’s growth.
  • Ensures standards for processes and performance are maintained.
  • Ensure ongoing implementation of food safety programs and regulatory requirements across all company manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure all standards, processes and proper protocols are in place, and adhered to consistently.
  • Coach, develop, set performance expectations, and agree upon performance goals and objectives with our quality and food safety tribe.
  • Maintain up-to-date information, procedures and technology affecting functional areas(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Review technical problems and procedures impacting your department and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bechelor's Degree required. Preference will be given to Food Science degrees, Food Technology degrees, or related fields. 
  • 5 years’ experience in Food Safety with vast FDA/FSMA expertise and background knowledge, extensive sanitation experience, and strong working knowledge of FDA regulations. A comprehensive understanding of microbiology, sanitary design and advanced cleaning methods are needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach, train, inspire and lead.

Quality Assurance Technician

A Ziegenfelder Quality Technician is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that finished Ziegenfelder treats are ready for delivery to customers by properly preparing raw material inputs, monitoring production processes, and inspecting final products.
  • Analyzing and documenting quality assurance processes and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Conducting production support to include mix making, equipment cleaning, product quality testing/sampling, and completion of the master sanitation schedule tasks.
  • Verifying finished product meets quality standards of color, taste, quantity, wrap, and Rainbow Array.
  • Follow HACCP, GMP, SOP, and SSOP programs and coordinating all documentation to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and Ziegenfelder directives, policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular audits of documentation to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and Ziegenfelder directives, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Education, experience and training with Food Safety, HACCP, SQF, Sanitation (SSOP & GMP) and/or other food safety systems and Quality Assurance process improvement skills required.  SQF certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in Food Manufacturing preferred. 

Physical Abilities:

  • Moving and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Production Staff

Ziegenfelder Production Staff are responsible for:

  • Placing sealed individual units in packaging and ensuring proper package sealing.
  • Repackaging improperly sealed, or coded, product.
  • Disposing of scrap product and raw materials.
  • Keeping work area clean.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Food Service/Production Experience
  • High School/GED

Physical Abilities:

  • Standing up to 12 hours per day.
  • Moving and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Bending, twisting, reaching and grasping actions.
  • Good spatial awareness working around manufacturing equipment.

Freezer Technician

A Ziegenfelder Freezer Technician is responsible for:

  • Palletize and move finished product.
  • Pulling finished products from the production conveyor belt and stacking on pallets properly.
  • Checking all products to ensure proper coding.
  • Ensuring proper amount of product is neatly stacked on pallets and all boxes on the pallet meet quality standards.
  • Wrapping palletized product with plastic stretch wrap.
  • Ensuring proper tags are printed and posted on all palletized products.
  • Ensuring that inventory is properly entered in appropriate inventory tracking systems.
  • Ensuring all palletized product is properly located in warehouse for picking.
  • Picking palletized product for shipping.
  • Communicating with operations to ensure correct amount of raw materials are readily available for each shift.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • This position is responsible for the food safety of our products

Qualifications and Education Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Warehouse experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to operate electric powered forklifts and electric powered pallet jacks.
  • Must be able to work in cold temperatures.

Physical Abilities:

  • Standing up to 12 hours per day.
